Beth Burton is a passionate abstract visual artist with a unique process to her technique. Most often working in pencil and colored pencil, Burton uses cardboard stencils of geometric shapes which she places in a grid-like pattern across the surface of her drawing paper. In the empty space of the stencils, Burton begins to fill them in with a color of her choosing. Lately she’s been using a regular graphite drawing pencil to create fields of gestural marks whose shape is determined by the stencil she’s chosen. Over time, Burton’s elaborate, labor intensive technique eventually reveals an entire pattern of interlocking geometric shapes spanning the entire surface of the picture plane. Burton is committed and industrious. Her eagerness and enthusiasm for her art and her practice are a positive influence on everyone in the art studio.
Beth Burton has been making art since 2012.
